Mr. Wajahat Habibullah served as the first Chief Information Commissioner of India’s Central Information Commission established in October 2005. He was also the Chairperson of the National Commission for Minorities. He served as an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from 1968 in various capacities until he retired as Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Panchayati Raj (Local Government) in August 2005.
